Influencers raved about the microwavable broth-filled dumplings last year, touting them as a quick and tasty base for comforting winter meals.

One 20-second video showing a “viral Trader Joe’s Chicken Dumplings Hack” for a soup recipe with just a handful of ingredients received more than 135,000 likes.

Another video of an influencer eating a different flavor of the dumplings, straight from the packet, with chilli sauce as a ‘one-minute lunch’ also received thousands of views.

TikTokers described them as “delicious, “juicy” and “affordable” – while one consumer noted that “every time I go to Trader Joe’s these are sold out.”

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). announced the recall on Saturday.

Officials said the problem came to light after customers complained about finding hard pieces of plastic in their food.

“Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them,” they said.

“These products should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.”

The soup-filled dumplings are described on the box as a ‘wonder to behold’ both for their display of Chinese food innovation, and for their incredibly comforting flavor profile.”

They can be microwaved in just one to two minutes.

It comes after Trader Joe’s last month recalled four products possibly containing listeria amid a nationwide outbreak linked to contaminated cheese.

The grocer warned about its Chicken Enchiladas Verde, Cilantro Salad Dressing, Elote Chopped Salad Kit and Southwest Salad — all of which contain cotija cheese.

The announcement was related to an FDA recall of Rizo-Lopez Foods dairy products, including contaminated cheese, crema and yogurt.

Rizo-Lopez products are also sold in several major supermarket chains, including Food City and Whole Foods.

The outbreak has killed two people and affected items have been sold nationwide.

The CDC stated that 26 Americans have fallen ill and 23 have been hospitalized in 11 states. Two deaths have been reported: one in California and one inside Texas.

Trader Joe’s advised customers to throw out recalled products or return them to a store for a full refund.

Listeria is an infection normally caused by eating food contaminated with the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes.
