Urgent recall for 85,000 pounds of ‘unsafe’ sliced ham in eight states – is yours one of them?

Stockmeyer ready-to-eat sliced proscuitto, sold by ConSup and made in Germany, was recalled Wednesday because some of it failed safety inspections

Nearly 86,000 pounds of sliced ham have been recalled in eight states, health officials announced.

The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), a division of the USDA, said on Wednesday that New Jersey-based ConSup North America Inc is recalling its ready-to-eat Stockmeyer sliced proscuitto, which was produced in Germany.

The affected products have been shipped to stores in California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

The products were created from September 25, 2023 to March 6, 2024.

Meat, poultry and egg products made in other countries and imported into the U.S. must meet all U.S. safety standards, which the USDA calls “equivalence.”

Germany’s Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety told FSIS that the German company H Klümper GmbH & Co KG produced “some” of the identified products without inspecting them based on U.S. standards.

FSIS urged consumers to throw away any affected products or return them to the place of purchase (stock image)
