Urgent recall for Romper & Co children’s toys products over choking safety fears
A line of products for young children, sold by the same baby brand in multiple Australian stores and online, has been recalled amid widespread fears they could cause choking, suffocation or death in children.
Product Safety Australia (PSA) has recalled a number of children’s toys from Romper & Co after it was found that they did not meet the mandatory standard for toys for children aged 36 months and under.
Romper & Co’s wooden toy maracas have been recalled due to safety reasons
PSA warns that the toy in question poses a “risk of choking, suffocation or death to young children if they place small or detached parts in their mouths.”
Parents are urged to check their children’s toy boxes for the products and are advised to stop using them immediately and keep them out of the reach of their children.
“Consumers should return the product to the place of purchase or contact Romper & Co to arrange a refund,” the recall notice reads.
Romper & Co’s 360 teething ring is among products recalled due to risk of choking, suffocation or death in young children
The dangerous products sold between December 20, 2020 and February 25, 2024 are:
- a round teething ring and sensory toy made of silicone and wood (known as a ‘360 teething ring’);
- a rattan rattle in the shape of an acorn, with a bell inside (‘acorn rattan rattle’);
- a wooden dumbbell-shaped rattle with 3 wooden rings around the wooden stick (‘wooden dumbbell rattle’);
- wooden egg-shaped musical shakers and sensory toys (“egg shakers”); And
- wooden maraca musical instruments (“wooden toy maracas”).

Parents should keep the wooden dumbbell rattle out of the reach of children.
Aside from Romper & Co, merchants who sold the products include Broome Thyme, Campus & Co, Charleston Trading, Eclectic Broken Hill, Hey There Tallulah, I em clothing, Kinfolk Collective, Lake Kids Boutique, Little Fawn & Co, Little GC , Little Loves & You, Logan & Roo, Lou + Mae, Mordialloc Florist, Olli Loves, Salt Bush & Surf Sohl store and The Little Toy Shop.
Separate recalls have been issued for other Romper & Co products, including a two-piece bamboo cotton children’s pajama set sold between December 9, 2022 and October 26, 2023.
Parents are advised to prevent their children from wearing the pajama set, which was available in blue, white, beige and pink, as it did not meet the requirements of the mandatory safety standard for children’s nightwear.
“The product does not have the appropriate fire hazard label,” and there is a “risk of serious burns if the affected sleepwear is exposed to a heat or flame source,” according to the PSA recall notice.
Romper & Co’s children’s bamboo pajama set has been recalled
The brand’s children’s sunglasses have also been recalled because they did not meet the mandatory standard for sunglasses and fashion glasses.

information” because “consumers may not be aware of the level of protection the sunglasses provide,” PSA’s recall notice states.
The recall affects ‘Teddy Matte’ (in pink, taupe, beige and baby blue) and ‘Vogue’ sunglasses (in black, taupe, white, pink and green) sold between February 10, 2021 and May 4, 2024.
Consumers are advised to stop using the sunglasses and pajamas and return them or contact Romper & Co to apply the fire warning or UV labeling or arrange a refund.

Parents are also urged to keep Romper & Co’s fingerless glove mittens, which feature an animal face with glued-on eyes, out of the reach of children due to the risk of suffocation, suffocation or death due to the eyes becoming detached from the gloves.
The mittens were sold between June 2, 2022 and March 9, 2024.
