Upcoming old school RTS Storm rises bringing in famed video game composer Frank Klepacki.
Klepacki is known for his work on the Command and rule series – some of the best PC strategy games ever made. Famous for his killer guitar riffs and skillful control of rhythm and bass, Klepacki’s Hell March And Sharpener are classic staples from video game music history.
As part of Rich deep During the 2023 preview event hosted by publisher 3D Realms, it was revealed that Klepacki would be lending his talents to From Tempest Rising soundtrack. In a revealing featurette, Klepacki revealed that he was “very excited to be one of the composers he worked on Storm rises.”
“My message to the community is (this): Thank you for starting the conversation to make this happen because I think it was a big catalyst for my involvement with this product.”
Storm rises promises to be a classic RTS that harkens back to the days of Command and rule And Starcraft. According to the title Steam store page the upcoming game is “inspired by RTS greats from the 90s and 2000s. Storm rises is a real-time strategy game set in a modern alternate history war scenario. It features three unique factions, each with its own approach to combat and economics, offering a variety of strategies for players of all shapes and sizes.
Although there is no concrete release window yet, a Storm rises demo is available on Steam for those who want to try the game early. The title will also feature two separate single-player campaigns, as well as multiplayer matchmaking, skirmish games and custom battles.
Despite the recent success of 4X grand strategy games like the sci-fi empire simulator Stellaris and historically oriented Crusader Kings 3Modern strategy titles have often moved away from real-time elements, allowing players to pause battles as in Dune: Spice Wars. More recent strategy games have done that often emphasized big picture elements over more traditional unit micromanagement. Against this trend, Storm rises is a deliberate attempt to return to old-fashioned, tried-and-true RTS mechanics.
