Both Samsung and Apple are expected to refresh their flagship phone lines over the next six months, and we now have a better idea of what the biggest and most expensive phones in each series will look like side-by-side.
Serial tipster @UniversalIce (through Notebook check) has taken to social media to post unofficial renders of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and the iPhone 15 Ultra (which could actually be called the iPhone 15 Pro Max).
The photo helps emphasize previous rumors about these phones: that the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will have a flatter screen this time around, while the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Ultra are expected to go for screen edges that are slightly more curved.
According to the newspaper, this switch to a flat display will also increase the width of the S24 Ultra compared to the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra that preceded it. same source – it is possible that it will increase from 78.1 mm to 79 mm.

Flat versus curved
Such design tweaks usually involve compromises, and that’s the case here. Curved edges, which have been the norm for premium phones in recent years, are more aesthetically pleasing, but can make handsets more difficult to grip.
In the case of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, @UniverseIce doesn’t seem to be a fan – suggesting the move to a wider phone with flatter bezels is a legacy to the days of the older Samsung Galaxy Note models.
However, a lot of this depends on personal preference and how you want your phones to feel. We’ve previously written about how the introduction of a flatter screen on the Galaxy S24 Ultra will mean more visible bezels, which could be an issue for some.
With the Galaxy S24 phones not expected until January and February, it’ll be a while before we can compare the Galaxy S24 Ultra to the iPhone 15 Ultra in real life – although Apple’s new devices are expected to debut sometime next month will make.
