University of Mississippi students taunt black female protester with racist monkey noises and ‘Lizzo’ chants in shameful clash at Ole Miss demo
University of Mississippi students taunted a black female protester with racist monkey noises and cries of “Lizzo” during an embarrassing confrontation with pro-Palestinian protesters.
The predominantly white, male counter-protesters hurled insults at the lone woman during Thursday’s confrontation.
The female protester was on the pro-Palestinian side of two dueling demonstrations when she was accosted by the loud pro-Israel demonstrators.
The video of the encounter was reposted by Republican Rep. Mike Collins, who appeared to rebuke the ugly behavior by sharing it with the caption, “Ole Miss takes care of business.”
The footage shows the woman filming as dozens of protesters shout “Lizzo” and “f*** you fat a**” at her.

She defiantly gives them the finger and steps out from behind a barrier to film closer.
As she approaches, the men, including a student dressed in stars and stripes overalls, continue to yell and scream at her.
At one point, a guard comes between her and the barking crowd and orders her back to her side.
The camera pans to reveal a man in a blue shirt jumping up and down and making monkey noises at her.
As they continue to scream, more and more guards arrive to try to keep the space between them.
Cries of “lock her up” then begin to echo across the courtyard as the woman is led away from the grinning crowd.
“During the demonstration on our campus on Thursday, statements were made that were hurtful and inappropriate,” a university spokesperson told TMZ.

The pro-Palestinian demonstrators were eventually led away from the site after being outnumbered by rowdy counter-protesters.
The clash occurred as dozens of pro-Palestinian protesters gathered to condemn the Israeli bombardment of Gaza in the wake of the October 7 attacks.
The group demanded that the university be transparent about its ties with Israel and divest from companies that profit from the war against Hamas.
However, the activists soon found themselves outnumbered by counter-protesters who shouted “terrorists” over their cries of “Free Palestine.”
The altercation became so violent that the pro-Palestinian demonstrators had to be escorted by police to a building before being taken away by bus.
Police confirmed they managed to disperse the crowd without any injuries or arrests.
The demonstration was just one of many that took place at colleges across the country in recent weeks.
Gaza encampments, which popped up at both Columbia University in New York City and UCLA, were dispersed by police after students defied orders to leave.
A settlement still exists at the University of Chicago, where students have issued lists of supplies they need to continue camping.
