Louisville Metro Police thanked Cardinals football players on social media Thursday for their help in righting an overturned vehicle in a crash this week near their home field at L&N Stadium.

A video posted by LMPD’s verified account on X, formerly known as Twitter, shows a vehicle driving through the intersection of Central and Floyd Avenue near the southeast corner of the stadium Monday afternoon.

The video blurs the crash but shows at least five Cardinals players and another motorist putting the wrecked vehicle back on its wheels from the driver’s side before first responders arrived.

The driver suffered minor injuries in the crash but is doing well, according to the LMPD video.

The Louisville players who helped in the rescue were not identified, although football spokesman Rocco Gasparro said junior wide receiver Jadon Thompson, a transfer from Cincinnati, was one of them.

The LMPD video started with a photo of the classic Cardinals football logo and ended with an image that read: “TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK.” Louisville Football tweeted the video and wrote, “Proud of our boys and grateful that all is well!”

The Cardinals (3-0) host Boston College (1-2) in an Atlantic Coast Conference game on Saturday.

Louisville opened ACC play with a narrow 39-34 win over Georgia Tech and followed that with a 56-0 victory over Murray State. Last week they beat Indiana by one touchdown.

As for their counterparts, all three of Boston College’s games have been decided by four points or less. They opened their season with a three-point loss to Northern Illinois, followed by a four-point win over Holy Cross and another three-point loss to No. 3 Florida State.
