One of the world’s best water skiers has passed away suddenly at the age of 18.

Micky Geller of Carp, Ontario, Canada, was studying kinesiology at Lafayette-Indiana University when he passed away on May 6.

No further details regarding his death have been released, with his passing leaving his friends and loved ones in deep shock.

Geller was a member of the national champion Ragin’ Cajuns Waterski Team, as well as the Canadian Junior National Waterski team, and placed sixth in the world in the U-21 jump, according to his obituary.

Geller was also a member of the Canadian Junior National Waterski team and, according to his obituary, was ranked sixth in the world in the U-21 jump.

Always active, Geller spent his early years doing gymnastics and then rock climbing and water skiing, and “loved nothing more than flying off the slope,” reads his obituary.

It went on to say that the water skier enjoyed the company of close friends, riding motorcycles, snowmobiling, having deep conversations and debates and just chilling.

“With his full-on approach to life, Micky has experienced more in his 18 years than many ever will,” the obituary continued.

“However, he just scratched the surface of the possibilities that lay ahead.”

Geller was always active, spending his early years doing gymnastics and then progressing to rock climbing and water skiing, and “loved nothing more than flying off the slope,” reads his obituary.

“It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we share with you the news that Micky Geller, from Ontario, passed away suddenly.

Micky was a valued member of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Water Ski Team, and the ski community of Ontario, representing Water Ski Canada on many occasions, including the U17 IWWF World Championships, the Jr. US Masters Water Ski Tournament and the 2022 Pan American Championships.”

The organization said they mourned Geller because they remember his “amazing work ethic, unending passion, humor, athleticism and charisma.”

The University of Louisiana-Lafayette will fly their flags at half-mast in honor of Geller on Thursday. The school posted about Geller on Wednesday.

“It is with great sadness that the University will lower the university flag to half staff on Thursday in memory of Michael Arthur ‘Micky’ Geller,” the message reads.

“His friends and family remain in the thoughts, hearts and prayers of many at the university.”
