Bizarre moment United Airlines passenger tries to destroy a plane seat before three others restrain him with zip ties

This is the bizarre moment a man repeatedly kicked a seat on a plane before being held down and tied up by three other passengers.

The video was recorded during a United Airlines flight from Austin to Los Angeles on November 16.

The person can be seen holding both an aisle seat and an exit seat while kicking the center seat with enough force to knock it back into the empty row behind it.

Dressed in a dark sweater, gray sweatpants and white Nike sneakers, the man continuously uses his right foot to stomp on the chair.

Video footage showed the same sequence of events unfolding for about 25 seconds, before the clip ended with the man jumping onto the chair in what appeared to be a last-ditch attempt to dismantle the chair.

The reasons why the man behaved this way remain unclear.

Following the incident, United Airlines confirmed that the individual was banned from taking any further flights with the airline.

The clip was shot by Gino Galofaro, who lives in San Diego, California and works as an addiction counselor. He says the activity woke him up and had to help restrain the man.

Gino, who runs addiction treatment service Hope Interventions, said: “I woke up to him kicking the chair. The flight attendant walked by a few times, no one did anything.

‘I held him down and two other passengers were already getting zip ties, so we tied his hands and feet and secured him to the seat with a seatbelt. We were 40 minutes from LAX.

“The police came on board when we landed.”

Gino added that he hopes to get in touch with the man’s family to see if he can provide assistance.

United Airlines reported that there were 76 passengers on the plane with five crew members.

A spokesperson said: ‘On November 16, local police encountered United Flight 502 upon arrival at Los Angeles International Airport after a customer became disruptive.

“We thank our crew for their assistance in addressing the situation and working to ensure the safety of everyone on board. We have excluded this customer from future United flights.”

It comes after passengers on board an American Airlines flight restrained a man in first class who was allegedly violent towards his female traveling companion.

One of them sternly tells the passenger to take his hands off the woman sitting next to him, while a female flight attendant tries to mediate.

“Don’t fucking touch her,” a man could be heard shouting in the passenger’s face, before apparently giving an inaudible apology.

“I don’t care,” the man replies as the passenger claims he took his hands off the woman. “Look at me, you’re fucking damned, you’re not touching her.”

At that point, a second man warns that the apparently handy passenger would be arrested if he touched the woman again.

“Get your damn hands off her right now,” he said. “If you touch her again, you’re going to get fucking arrested, you son of a bitch.”

The first man could then be seen asking the woman if she is okay, before the passengers tell her to move to another empty seat – away from her traveling companion.

As she walked down the aisle, the alleged aggressor shouted that he was the one attacked by the woman – which she vehemently denied.

“No, you weren’t attacked,” the woman shot back. “I put my hand over your mouth to shut you up.”

But the man stood his ground and shouted, “You hit me!”
