Unearthed ABC News footage from 1995 shows Kamala Harris being asked if she is ex Willie Brown’s daughter in San Francisco
An ABC News profile of then-San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown has resurfaced, showing the moment a young Kamala Harris is questioned by reporters during a night out with her lover, who is 31 years her senior.
In Dianne Sawyer’s 1995 special report on Brown, the Democrat is portrayed as an “independent” politician “notorious for his flamboyant lifestyle, flashy clothing, fancy parties” and “beautiful women.” Harris also appears in the footage.
βAre you his daughter?β a reporter asks in the clip circulating hours before the first debate with Donald Trump and also airing on ABC.
βNo, I don’t,β Harris replies with her trademark laugh.
Brown was 60 and Harris was 29 when the couple started dating. The clip, which has since gone viral, was first republished by @EndWokeness on X.

Brown, now 90, is married but had long been estranged from his wife, Blanche, when he first met Harris.
Willie Brown and Blanche live apart, but are never divorced.
Harris attended Brown’s election party and presented him with a hat that read “Da Mayor” as he celebrated his victory.

“Willie Brown will be gone. He’s gone β hello, folks, move on,” Harris said pointedly in a 2003 magazine profile of her when she was running for District Attorney of San Francisco.
In Kamala Harris’ memoir, first published in 2018, Brown is not mentioned.
