Jaguars coach Doug Pederson appeared to focus on his players after Sunday’s loss to the Texans saw Jacksonville drop to 0-4 on the season.
The Jaguars were undone by a final touchdown from Dare Ogunbowale as Houston earned a 24-20 win with just 18 seconds on the clock.
The loss leaves Jacksonville at the bottom of the AFC South as one of only two teams in the NFL without a win in 2024.
Pederson is under pressure after the poor start to the new season. But after the match he laid some of the blame on his players.
The head coach was asked if he would consider taking the play-calling away from offensive coordinator Press Taylor.

Dare Ogunbowale scored a final touchdown to condemn Jacksonville to an 0-4 start
‘For what? I thought he had a great game,” Pederson said. “As coaches, we can’t go out there and make the plays, right?
‘It’s a two-way street. So you guys can sit here and point fingers all you want, and it’s fine. Point it straight at me.
‘I can take it. OK. I can handle it. So whatever you want to ask me, say what you want, write, go ahead.”
When asked if he could take over from Taylor, he added: “Okay, yes, of course, I’ll take it into account.’
Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has now lost in each of his last nine starts
Since 1990, 105 teams have started a season with an 0-4 record. Only one has made the playoffs and none has won the Super Bowl.
Pederson insisted he wasn’t worried about his own future after another loss. ‘My status? No,’ he said. “That’s a bit of a weird question, but okay.”
Quarterback Trevor Lawrence has now lost each of his last nine starts dating back to December 2023. It is the longest skid of his career.
“We’re so close to flipping the switch and making more plays during the games,” Pederson said. “We’re not making those now, and that’s holding us back.”
