UNC men’s basketball players were splashed with water by Duke fans on Saturday after defeating their fierce rivals – with at least one empty plastic water bottle also thrown.
The No. 7 Tar Heels defeated the No. 9 Blue Devils 84-79 to win the ACC regular season title outright and sweep their season series against Duke.
And disturbing scenes followed North Carolina’s victory at Cameron Indoor Stadium, when Duke fans soaked part of the field and even drenched some media members. video shows. DailyMail.com has contacted UNC for comment.
The waterworks came after several UNC players taunted the crowd by waving goodbye.

UNC coach Hubert Davis immediately began frantically motioning for the officials to watch the replay, but there was no whistle, stoppage or review as the rivalry battle raged on.
UNC and Duke will compete in the ACC Tournament next week before competing in March Madness.
