Unai Emery has signed a new five-year contract with Aston Villa.
Emery guided Villa to a sensational fourth-place finish in the Premier League, securing Champions League football for the first time in their history.
He had his deal extended in April until 2027 after talks with owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens and has further committed his future to Villa Park with new terms likely to make him one of the highest-paid managers in Europe.
“I am very happy with this step and with the responsibility to lead this club,” said Emery. ‘Since I joined Villa with Wes and Nassef, we always found the best environment and structure to develop a project with the highest ambition.
‘The whole football structure with Monchi and Damian [Vidagany] and the owners we share the same vision and the same objectives.

“We are very excited to continue this journey with no limits to our dreams.”
Emery had replaced Steven Gerrard in the top spot in October 2022 and catapulted Villa from 17th to seventh in his first season – and with it into European football.
Villa also reached the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League this season.

Tying Emery down to new terms became an immediate priority for the hierarchy this summer
After Emery helped the club into the top four in his second season, tying him down to a lucrative new contract became an immediate priority for the hierarchy.
“We are building something special here at Aston Villa with Unai at our core and we are pleased that he has signed a new contract with the club until 2029,” said Sawiris.
“As we enter our historic 150th anniversary year, there is much to look forward to with Unai at the helm.”
Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are said to have expressed an interest in Emery earlier this month in their search for a permanent successor to Thomas Tuchel.
