Una Healy has revealed the subtle way she got revenge on David Haye after being ‘tricked’ into a three way relationship with the boxer and his on/off girlfriend Sian Osborne.
The Saturday singer, 41, broke her silence about their unconventional set-up by insisting she was never part of a ‘throuple’ and that the only person she was dating was David – although he was dating Sian at the same time it was dating.
Speaking with Vogue Williams and Joanne McNally at the My therapist dumped me podcast, Una revealed that she was “tricked” into joining the relationship and that David pushed the “throuple” story.
Despite insisting the pair are still friendly and that she harbors no “bitterness,” the mother-of-two still came up with a genius way to get her own back — through some tactically named music.
Asked by the hosts ‘what’s next’ for her, Una mused, ‘Well I’ve got a new single coming out on June 1st…it’s called Walk Away!’
Three’s company: Una Healy has revealed the subtle way she got revenge on David Haye after being ‘tricked’ into a three-way relationship with the boxer and Sian Osborne
Cheeky! Una said she’s looking forward to getting back into music and reveals she’s releasing a single emphatically named Walk Away, noting that the title rhymes with David Haye
As Vogue and Joanne burst into laughter, Una continued, “What does that rhyme with?” on which the podcast hosts shout “David Haye!”
Joanne joked, “You see, at the end of the day, everything is satisfied, you can always get something out of it!”
Una continued, ‘The song is called Walk Away, it’s very country pop and I can’t wait for it to come out. I’m really excited.’
The podcast ended with Una musing, “I feel relieved to have to do my part. The truth from the horse’s mouth.’
Earlier in the chat, the singer cleared up “throuple” reports, stating: Dating HIM is the right term because that’s how it was, it wasn’t a trouple. We had a nice relationship.’
She revealed how the romance started, explaining that she had come across David’s profile on the celebrity dating app Raya, but that the pair agreed to just be friends because she was worried about his past.
Referring to rumors of infidelity that have plagued David, Una confessed, “I immediately asked him “what are you looking for?” because I did a Google and thought “I’m probably going straight from skillet to fire with this one because he did to his wife exactly what my ex-husband did to me.” I didn’t like that.’
Una revealed that David had told her he was single, but he “didn’t believe the traditional relationship exists anymore,” so Una decided to put an end to all things romantic.
However, after speaking every day, the pair grew closer and began casually seeing each other and going on dates whenever the Irish beauty was in London for work.
“It was casual, it wasn’t serious,” she explained. “I was happy enough with it. It was in a romantic capacity.
“He was very honest that I wasn’t the only woman he was hanging out with, I knew full well that he was hanging out with other people. I knew he was honest and it’s not like I was cheated.
“I knew he wasn’t husband material, just a little fun and I enjoyed it.”
However, Una revealed that she gradually became aware that David was talking to his ex-girlfriend Sian more and more and so she asked the boxer what was going on.
David then confessed that Sian was still “very involved” in his life and as he thought both women were “really special” he wanted them to meet.
Still, Una did not want to meet Sian, but at the same time was concerned that the news that she and David were dating would become public and that it would appear that he was cheating on Sian.
Una reasoned, “If we’re all in the picture together, at least we’re all a happy family, there’s nothing sinister going on.”
“He doesn’t label, he never called her [Sian] his girlfriend, he is open, polyamorous. So I met her and she was a really nice girl but there was nothing going on there so it wasn’t a trouple. I wasn’t romantic with her, I don’t really know her.’
Three of a kind: Una had asked David if he wanted to go on holiday but revealed that the boxer had insisted that Sian go with them for the breakaway
The trio caused tongues wagging in January when David shared a cozy photo with his arms around the bikini-clad beauties during a trip to Morocco, but Una was quick to clear up the circumstances surrounding their celebratory outing.
She explained that she wanted to leave Ireland for Christmas as it was ex-husband Ben’s turn to have their children Tadhg, seven, and Aoife Bell, 10, for the holidays.
Una had asked David if he wanted to go on holiday, but revealed that the boxer had insisted that Sian come along on holiday.
She recalled, “The honesty was there and I found that attractive. I remember on the flight up there he was in the middle seat and he had one hand on her leg and one hand on mine.
“I said to him, ‘what am I doing?’ and he says “you’re having a midlife crisis, but don’t worry, me too!” and I thought “she is [Sian’s] not because she’s 10 years younger!’
After returning from the trip, claims of a “throuple” began appearing in the media, with Una confessing to Googling the term as she had never heard of it, but being “dragged to death” on her social media.
Despite being confused by the term “throuple,” she decided to take another vacation with David and Sian, with the trio heading to Costa Rica.
Yet during the trip she felt a “sign” when she heard the song The Boy Is Mine by Brandy and Monica, a song about two love rivals fighting over a man.
Una confessed, “As soon as I got there, I could hear the song. It just wasn’t right.
“There’s no dynamic there — she’s not my girlfriend — he’s both our boyfriend and I was just like, ‘I’m out, you can have him.’
“He can have whoever he wants, because one [woman] will never be enough for him.’
After explaining to David that she could no longer date him, she revealed that he told her she opted out of the team, but added that it was fair enough, you do what makes you happy, with Una remarked: living his truth, his authentic self.’
Even though their relationship ended in January, David shocked her by honoring her on Valentine’s Day.
Asked by podcast host Joanne if the ‘throuple’ was a story pushed by David, Una mused, ‘I think he was really happy about it, but I was confused about it.
“He didn’t get it, he was always trying to coach me not to get upset, but I’ve never had to hit the block button so many times. I had a list of words blocked on Instagram.
“I don’t want to have a three-way relationship!”
As Joanne joked, “you were tricked into a trouple,” Una agreed, “I was!”
Despite this, Una revealed that she doesn’t harbor any ill feelings towards David, insisting that there was no bitterness and that although she doesn’t talk to Sian, she still keeps in touch with the boxer.
“I really enjoyed my relationship with him,” Una confessed. “He was very nice to me and very honest, but it took its course and I’ve been single ever since.”
She revealed that she is now staying off dating apps, she explained that she wants to meet a partner naturally but is only looking for a monogamous relationship.
It has since been rumored that David and Sian have welcomed a new woman into their ‘thouple’.
