Ultra-secretive NYC restaurant Frog Club makes shock announcement

Top-secret New York City restaurant Frog Club has made a shocking announcement that reverses a policy they were known for.

Until now, the restaurant had a strict ‘no photography’ rule inside to maintain exclusivity. Upon entering the restaurant, guests were required to cover their front and back cameras with a sticker.

Known as ‘the New Yorkiest room in New York’, the Frog Club has now announced as of Friday evening that they are now allowing photography.

When entering the restaurant, guests would have to cover their front and back cameras with a sticker, but this rule is now being abolished

One rule when entering the Frog Club, and one way to be denied service, is to be “rude or inappropriate to our team, especially Tony,” the doorman

“Kermit says photos are now allowed at the Frog Club,” their most recent post read, accompanied by photos of the Muppet doll taking selfies.

The comments on the post shared mixed feelings about the new announcement. Some were all for it, but others felt it took away from the exclusivity of the restaurant.

One wrote: ‘I only take pictures when Kermit is there.’

“The kewl is gone now,” said one and “I liked the mystery,” wrote another.

Another was simply in shock and wrote: ‘HOLY S***’

The restaurant located in West Village; Frog Club became known not only for their exclusive ‘no photography’ rule, but also for their menu offerings.

One in particular, Kiss the Chef, is supposed to cost $1,000 and was purchased by a male restaurant on opening night, according to Eater New York.

The 68-seat restaurant is completely decorated with frogs and offers a range of American dishes with a twist, such as a burger in an English muffin with sidewinder fries.

The restaurant is owned by high-profile chef Liz Johnson, the brains behind the iconic Horses restaurant in Los Angeles.

Johnson was involved in an extremely messy and public “implosion” of her marriage to fellow chef Will Aghajanian.

The restaurant features many quirky food and drink options, such as the Dirty Kermit, the 'Tutti Frutti Spaghetti Sundae' and pierogis filled with lobster

Amid divorce filings and abuse allegations, Johnson opened the Frog Club earlier this year.

In addition to the “no photography” rule, the restaurant also enforced other rules. Their Instagram account uploaded a list titled “Ways to Get 86’d,” which is another way of saying “denied service.”

The rules include not showing up for a reservation, taking photos – including in the bathroom – and being rude, especially to the doorman Tony.

They also warn against any form of vandalism, flagrant and dangerous drunkenness, lying about your birthday or touching memorabilia.

The final rule, which coincides with their ‘Kiss the Chef’ menu option, is not to kiss the chef without permission.
