Extremely Rare 1990s APPLE Trainers Designed for Some of Steve Jobs’s Early Employees to Auction for $50,000

- They were a one-time giveaway at a National Sales Conference in the 1990s
Fashion may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Apple.
But the tech giant dabbled in designer clothes in the 1990s, and its retro sneakers are now up for auction.
The ultra-rare sneakers, made exclusively for Steve Jobs’ very first employees, are exclusively white, except for the well-known Apple logo in old-fashioned rainbow colors.
The shoes are being sold by New York-based Sotheby’s, who says they were a one-time giveaway at a National Sales Conference just before the 2000s.
While the trainers were free to employees back then, they now carry an eye-watering $50,000 (£38,842) price tag.

Although the Omega x Apple sneakers are “new in the box” with an extra pair of red laces, the seller says they have some imperfections, including some yellowing around the midsoles.
“This particular pair of sneakers, which has never reached the general public, is one of the most obscure in existence and highly coveted in the resale market,” says Sotheby’s.
“The condition of the shoes is commensurate with age, imperfections include yellowing around the midsoles and glue, and light marks on the toe cap.”
Unfortunately, people with smaller feet will not be able to wear these vintage sneakers themselves, as they only come in size 10.5 US (10 in UK).
They can be posted internationally, although additional taxes are not included in the $50,000 (£38,842) auction price.
The extremely rare sale comes nearly six years after another pair of Apple trainers went up for $15,000 (£11,600) on eBay.
The shoes, which were sized US 9.5 (UK 8.5), were offered by Dallas-based Heritage Auctions but never actually sold.
This also came just a year after one black turtleneck, books, keys and other personal items belonging to the late Apple CEO and co-founder Steve Jobs were up for auction.
The black turtleneck in the auction featured the logo of NeXT, a computer company Jobs founded after he left Apple.

A black turtleneck, books, keys and other personal items that belonged to the late Apple CEO and co-founder Steve Jobs were also auctioned earlier
And on the back of the shirt were the words ‘1980s: Personal Computing/ 1990s: Interpersonal Computing’.
The winning bid for the jumper was a whopping £2,225 ($2,880).
Also auctioned for £3,000 ($4,000) was a leather jacket once owned by Jobs.
He was wearing the jacket in a 1983 photo that showed Jobs pointing his middle finger at an IBM sign.
