Ukrainian dwarf Natalia Grace breaks her silence after adoptive parents branded her a sociopath
Ukrainian dwarf Natalia Grace denounces her adoptive parents as “liars” in a new tell-all interview, saying she “wasn’t given a chance” to tell her side of the bizarre story.
Natalia sat down for an explosive sequel to ID’s new documentary, “The Curious Case of Natalia Grace,” in which her adoptive parents claim she was an adult “sociopath” posing as a child.
But the dwarf has hit back at the claims, with a trailer for the sequel in which she says, “The things Michael says I did are a lie.”
Natalia has been the subject of heated debate over her actual age, with a legal expert recently calling for her case to be reconsidered, a decade after her age was questionably changed in court.

The first part of the disturbing documentary portrays Natalia’s adoptive mother Kristine Barnett as an allegedly abusive and threatening individual.
And in a preview of her sensational sit-down interview, Natalia also lashes out at Kristine, saying, “She tried to make it seem like I was just a big crazy person.”
“That’s not true,” she adds. “I want to tell people what really happened, because I didn’t get that chance.”
Natalia was accused by her adoptive parents of trying to force her way into their family when they adopted her in April 2010.
Feeling she was secretly an adult pretending to be a six-year-old orphan, the Indiana family claim they suspected she was much older than first thought during one of the first nights they spent together .
While giving Natalia a bath after spending the day at Disneyland, he said Kristine let out a blood-curdling scream from the bathroom when she noticed that the girl they thought was only six had “full of pubic hair.”
In the months that followed, there was, in his own words, ‘a lot of escalation’. This included discovering that she had been hiding her period from them for months.
Natalia, pictured just days after being picked up by the Barnetts from her Florida adoption center in May 2010, quickly aroused suspicion from her new parents, as Natalia was on her period and had adult vocabulary for a six-year-old.
The Barnetts were charged with neglecting their child after they eventually watered Natalia and moved to Canada after asking a court to set her birth year back 14 years, which was granted. Their charges were dropped in October 2022 and March 2023
A series of disturbing accusations are made about Natalia throughout the series, including claims that she loomed over her new family’s beds with knives and tried to poison their coffee.
Once, when Natalia met another six-year-old with a rare bone condition called spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia, the large age difference became seemingly indisputable.
Natalia, who did not speak a Ukrainian accent, towered over her playmate, while her bone structure and vocabulary were much more advanced.
As the months passed, Michael claimed that it became clear that they were living with a threat, to the point that she “threatened to stab” her new siblings.
“She tried to poison and kill my wife,” Michael added. “(And) one night I opened my eyes and Natalia is standing at the foot of the bed with a knife in her hand.”
In never-before-seen footage, the documentary shows Natalia’s suspicious behavior in her adoptive home, including sitting at a table reading the Bible. When asked why she chose to read it, she replies, “To get rid of these evil thoughts.”
“She would do anything to hurt or hurt the whole family,” Michael said.

In a 2019 episode (pictured) of Dr. Phil denied Natalia being an adult, and her new parents even defended her, saying she was a “sincere loving girl” and not a “grown sociopath pretending to be a kid.”
Natalia’s latest claim that the Barnetts lied about her age and behavior comes four years after she made the same claims in an appearance on Dr. Phil.
She burst into tears as she discussed the allegations against her.
Her new parents, Cynthia and Anton Mans, also defend her on the show, feeling that she was a “genuine loving girl” and not a “grown sociopath pretending to be a kid.”
The Curious Case of Natalia Grace premiered on May 28 and is available to stream on Max and Discovery+.
