- Jockey predicted victory before the race
- I rode the British champion to perfection
- Double protest filed
The William Haggas-trained Lake Forest has won a thrilling Golden Eagle (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens with Cieren Fallon in the saddle.
The UK raider launched down the fence to beat French horse Lazzat in a thrilling finish to the $10 million race.
However, Connections of fifth place getter Stefi Magnetica have protested against runner-up Lazzat, while connections of Lazzat have also protested against Lake Forest.
But both protests were ultimately dismissed, allowing Lake Forest connections to finally celebrate.
Lake Forest stormed home past the fence to claim victory in the Golden Eagle, but two protests were lodged immediately afterwards
Jockey Cieren Fallon predicted Golden Eagle’s victory before the race had even started
“We are absolutely thrilled with the horse,” said William Haggas stable representative Isabella Paul.
Fallon, son of former English hoops champion Kieren Fallon, had issued an ominous warning to the field ahead of the win.
‘Cieren (Fallon) rode the most beautiful race and we used that explosive foot movement and my god, that last 200 meters was so impressive.’
“He feels great and I think he’s grown,” Fallon said.
‘He looks much better here than at home.
“Issy (Paul) did a great job with him.”
