Ugreen’s $33 charger has no right to look this cute

When I’m on the hunt for a new charging device — either to buy myself or to recommend to Polygon readers for their Steam Decks, Switch, phone, or tablet — cuteness isn’t a factor. But Ugreen’s new Uno Nexode 65W portable charger adds a welcome level of expressiveness to the heretofore humdrum chore of charging your gadgets. Once plugged into an outlet, its small screen displays an emoji that changes depending on the charging progress. It’s €32.49 now for Amazon Prime subscribers ($49.99 for everyone else) and comes in three color schemes.

Do you need another screen in your life? Absolutely not. But the reason I’m sold on this particular charger (besides the screen) is because its 65W charging speed is more than enough to charge the Steam Deck at the same speed as Valve’s own charger – not to mention the Switch, which uses less power. Not only that, with a total of two USB-C ports and one USB-A port, it can distribute its power to up to three devices at once (45W goes to one device, while 7.5W goes to each of the remaining two). If you only plug cables into the USB-C ports and leave the USB-A port empty, it will charge at 45W and 20W respectively – more than enough to fast-charge both a console and a phone.

While you’re on the fence about whether to buy this thing at a discount, you might consider pairing it with the Anker 2-in-1 USB-C cable that Polygon covered a few weeks ago . It’s a 4-foot, braided cable that splits into two USB-C heads, allowing you to—you guessed it—charge two devices from a single power source. The last time I wrote about it, it was $21.99 with a Prime membership , but it’s now $19.99.
