The Texas solar eclipse may have been overshadowed by a UFO soaring through the sky above Arlington.
The images captured a darkened sky as the moon passed in front of the sun, but also showed the shadow of a long, narrow object streaking through the clouds.
The video has caused quite a stir on social media, with some calling it an encounter of the third kind or even a dragon.
However, many other users came up with a more reasonable explanation: it was the shadow of a plane at a high altitude.

Texas was considered the “hotspot” on the eclipse’s path of totality that began in The Lone Star State and extended to Maine.
Hundreds of thousands of people flocked to Texas as the eclipse was predicted to be visible for three minutes and 51 seconds.
And many of these visitors have shared photos and footage of the heavenly event, with one capturing something that some claimed was out of this world.
The images show glowing clouds hanging in a dark sky as the object appears to swim by.
“What is that?” you hear several people say, then you can hear “aliens” loudly.
“Something is flying through the air,” another spectator can be heard.

But eclipse spectators saw another plane fly over the event in McKinney, about 50 miles from Arlington.
The surrounding crowd seemed stunned by what they had seen – and so did many social media users.
The object appeared to fly back and forth in the region of the sky where the sun and moon had met.
Comments on the video shared on X suspected the object was a helicopter due to the speed at which it appeared.
“It’s literally the shadow of a helicopter coming through the clouds,” one user wrote. “I’ve seen this several times with airplanes.”
But an Arizona man who claimed to live near Luke Air Force Base said “helicopters don’t move that fast.”
Others suggested the shadow came from an airplane.
‘I thought of airplane shadow when I saw it. Not that it couldn’t be a UFO shadow, but probably not as fun,” another user shared.
One X user posted that it was “obviously a plane,” citing the outline of the engines visible in the video.
Another said: ‘Shadow on the clouds from an airplane at a higher altitude. As an aviation spotter, I’ve seen this many times.’
They further explained that the shadow disappears when the plane enters a part of the sky without clouds – and that the shadow appeared similar in size to the spacecraft.
One X user commented that the ‘video is made for entertainment clicks.’
