British Octagon star Paddy Pimblett has come under fire from fight fans after video surfaced of him knocking a dwarf to the ground with a front kick in an offensive YouTube stunt.
The Liverpool-born lightweight, who is one of the biggest stars in the sport thanks to his 20-3 record and vivacious personality, is seen smashing the unnamed man to the canvas as he braces himself for impact by holding a pad to his torso.
“Don’t make it hard, brother,” the man says just before kicking.
Like Sparta? “This is Sparta”?’ Pimblett responds, referencing a famous scene from the action movie 300 that sees the main character utter the line just before kicking an adversary down a deep well.
He then lands the kick, sending the man flying and sprawling on the ground as he breaks into laughter along with YouTube star Danny Duncan, who has amassed more than seven million subscribers with his prank videos.
Pimblett referenced the famous ‘this is Sparta’ scene from the movie 300 before kicking the unidentified man.
Despite being asked to “go easy,” the UFC star’s jab sent the dwarf flying before he crashed to the canvas, prompting Pimblett and YouTube star Danny Duncan ( center) became hysterical.
Pimblett also makes the man surrender by putting him in a triangle choke during the stunt.
MMA fans were quick to condemn the 28-year-old once the footage surfaced online.
“Bullying dwarves… rice doing rice things,” one tweeted.
“That’s sad actually,” wrote another.
‘Do people bully dwarves now?’ added a third commenter.
The Liverpudlian (pictured during his controversial victory over Jared Gordon at UFC 282) received abuse from fight fans for the offensive gimmick.
Others reacted to the video by criticizing Pimblett’s skills in the Octagon.
‘I finally found someone who [he] can really beat,’ wrote one fight fan.
“That’s the best win on his resume,” added another.
It’s not the first time Pimblett has been filmed kicking a non-professional wrestler.
In January, he posted a video of himself taking on an internet troll after receiving criticism online.
After ‘a week or two’ of fan feedback on Pimblett’s social media, the UFC star offered him a £500 ($900) reward if he could ‘survive’ unlimited rounds in the gym with him.
Surprisingly, the ‘troll’ accepted the fight and stepped into the Octagon with a man who has won his last six UFC fights and recently knocked out 10 US Marines in a row.
In January, Pimblett posted a video of him kicking and punching an overwhelmed Internet troll who dared to step into the Octagon with him.
Pimblett took it much better with the troll than the dwarf, throwing light punches and kicks throughout the three round ‘fight’ before a kick to the head caused his ‘opponent’ to end the session.
In fact, he paid homage to the troll afterwards.
“I’ve been asking other MMA fighters to come train me and they’re all scared, and you’ve never walked in an MMA gym in your life, and you fell,” he said.
Pimblett said he had been given a March 7 date to finally have surgery for an ankle injury sustained in his controversial victory over Jared Gordon at UFC 282 last December and anticipates being sidelined until the end of 2023.
‘I’ll be in a boot for a few weeks, but then I’m looking forward to the end of the year, and I’ll be able to fight, I think, fight again at the end of the year.’ he said. addicted to mma.
