UFC star Tony Ferguson has been subjected to a brutal training regimen by former US Navy SEAL David Goggins as he prepares to face Paddy Pimblett next month.

The former interim UFC lightweight champion has struggled as of late, suffering six straight losses inside the Octagon.

Ferguson has shown his determination to turn around his fortunes by enlisting the help of Goggins.

The former US Navy SEAL and Iraq war veteran has put Ferguson through a ‘week of hell’ to get him in top condition for UFC 296.

Goggins shared a clip on social media of the brutal training regime, which saw Ferguson throw up as the 39-year-old was tested.

“Day 1 of Hell Week consisted of 3+ hours of high intensity, tempo cardio, 600+ push-ups, tons of chest exercises, stair climber/assault bike/rowing/elliptical then repeat,” Goggins wrote on Instagram.

‘Tony gives it everything he’s got and is officially back in the lab! Stay hard!’

Goggins, who has become a motivational author and speaker with millions of followers in America, has previously helped fighters in the build-up to fights.

He teamed up with Jon Jones ahead of his fight with Ciryl Gane in March, which saw the American return from a three-year absence to claim the UFC heavyweight title.

Goggins previously teamed up with boxer Kell Brook ahead of the Briton’s WBO welterweight title fight with Terence Crawford in 2020.

Ferguson hopes Goggins can increase his fortunes after a string of defeats in the UFC.

His losing streak began with a defeat to Justin Gaethje in 2020, which saw him vacate the interim UFC lightweight championship title.

Since then, he has suffered defeats to Charles Oliveira, Beneil Dariush, Michael Chandler and Nate Diaz before losing to Bobby Green in his most recent fight in July.
