Look no further if you are out of town and want to save a few bucks on a taxi.

A new report has pitted America’s two most popular taxi apps, Lyft and Uber, against each other regarding fare prices in every state and major city.

Consumer finance company CashNetUSA analyzed the average price of four separate six-mile trips, each starting in the city center.

In the top ten states where the price differences between Uber and Lyft were the greatest, Uber’s fares were significantly cheaper. In two of the three states, grabbing an Uber was the cheaper option

Uber turned out to be the cheapest overall, but charges nearly $4 more than Lyft in New York City.

CashNetUSA also found that Uber prices were the cheapest in Utah, averaging about $14.42. For Lyft, they found that Oklahoma had the most affordable rides, averaging about $14.51 per ride.

Using fare estimators from Uber and Lyft calculators, the company compiled the price differences between the two services in each state.

They also tested the performance of Uber and Lyft in 150 major cities in the United States.

The company’s analysis found that Uber fares tended to be cheaper and offered lower fares in two of the three states.

In the top ten states where the price differences between Uber and Lyft were the greatest, Uber’s fares were often significantly cheaper.

Uber rides averaged $4.71 less in Wisconsin, $4.22 less in Minnesota, and $4.05 less in Pennsylvania.

Lyft rides were the cheapest compared to Uber fares in New York State, costing an average of $3.33 less than Uber rides in New York.

Of the 150 U.S. cities the group studied and mapped, New Orleans had the biggest difference between Uber and Lyft fares: Lyft rides were a whopping $12.20 more expensive than their Uber rivals in the Big Easy.

All told, there were only three cities where Uber and Lyft prices were identical, and all three were in California: San Diego ($20.45 per exchange on both apps), San Jose ($22.76 per ride each ) and Los Angeles ($24.78 per fare).

CashNetUSA, which produced the cards, is a company that provides short- and medium-term cash advance loans to individuals on a paycheck basis.

The consumer finance company has more than 200 unresolved complaints with the Better Business Bureau right now, but nevertheless seems to understand that the average American is strapped for cash.

“The rideshare business model is controversial as the popularity of Lyft and Uber has snowballed over the past decade,” said CashNetUSA. “And unfortunately the services probably won’t get any cheaper.”

However, mapping out the price difference of the apps for consumers is a good start to saving community money.

“No one likes to think too deeply about Uber and Lyft,” said CashNetUSA. “But thinking about it might save you a few bucks.”
