U-turn for Natwest boss Alison Rose if she agrees to appear before MPs to testify about savings rates
Natwest boss Dame Alison Rose will appear before MPs in Parliament next Tuesday in a humiliating reversal.
Rose, 54, will testify before the Treasury Select Committee just 24 hours after saying she was too busy after being accused of ‘invisibility’.
Commissioner Dame Angela Eagle said it was “an insult” to parliament and the public that Rose, whose bank is backed by taxpayers, was not present.
NatWest said there were “further discussions” with the committee and Rose would show up.
Eagle said yesterday: “I’m glad she was late in realizing the importance of the committee and look forward to her appearance.”

Commission chair Harriett Baldwin said she looks forward to questioning Rose, as well as the leaders of the UK’s three other largest banks.
She added: “Public scrutiny of our largest financial institutions is vital.”
