Tyreek Hill responds to rumors of a Kansas City reunion with Patrick Mahomes as the Dolphins wide receiver hits slump

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill doesn’t expect to be going anywhere anytime soon, despite his team’s recent struggles and his yardage problem in recent games.

Recent speculation on social media has led many to wonder if Hill could be looking for a trade away from the 1-3 Dolphins.

There is a particular question about trading him back to the team that drafted him: the Kansas City Chiefs.

But Hill threw cold water on that speculation when he spoke to the media on Wednesday.

“I’m just focusing on the right here and the right now,” Hill said, via Adam Beasley of Pro Football Network.

‘We have a great team here and I want to be part of it. We have a great situation here, my family loves it, I enjoy it, the weather is great, the fans are great. We have a nice situation.

‘My parents always taught me: control what is controllable, and I can only control so much. That said, the NFL is a business, we all know what happens. I would like to be here in the future, I love being here.”

While Hill and the Chiefs would be a good fit in theory, the logistics would make it nearly impossible to acquire the 30-year-old.

Kansas City only has $4.9 million in cap space for the remainder of the season and would be hampered by major cap hits next season.

Hill currently has a cap hit of $31.9 million for this season, which drops to $27.8 million in 2025 before skyrocketing to $51.8 million in 2026.

Any discussion about trading Hill wouldn’t happen if he was performing well and the Dolphins were rolling. But that is not the case.

After winning their first game of the season, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa went down with a concussion against the Buffalo Bills in Week 2 on Thursday Night Football.

Backup quarterbacks Skylar Thompson and Tyler Huntley have stepped in, with Thompson injured in Week 3.

As a result of Tagovailoa’s absence, Hill’s production has plummeted.

In his first game of the season against Jacksonville, he had seven catches for 130 yards and a touchdown. In the three games since, he has totaled 10 catches on 18 targets for a paltry 87 yards and no touchdowns — good for an average of 29 yards.

That led to frustration for Hill, who appeared to boil over on the sidelines during Monday night’s loss to the Tennessee Titans.

It’s not clear exactly when Tagovailoa is expected back after suffering the third known concussion of his NFL career. But ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports he could be back as early as Week 8.

Who knows where Miami will be by then, but Hill will likely be with the Dolphins as he hopes to get back on track.

He’ll get a chance to do that on the road this Sunday against fellow contenders, the New England Patriots.
