Tyreek Hill has accepted Noah Lyles’ challenge to race against him after the Miami Dolphins wide receiver claimed the American track and field star faked an illness during the Olympics earlier this summer.
Lyles was a guest on Shannon Sharpe’s “Nightcap” podcast on Saturday, when he was asked if he would beat “Cheetah” in the 100-meter dash after the NFL star suggested the gold medalist was “faking it” after finishing third in the 200 meters in Paris.
“Tyreek is just chasing influence. If someone’s fast, he says he wants to race them,” Lyles initially said. “If he really wanted to race people, he would have shown up like DK Metcalf. That guy raced the 60m in the Masters this year. That guy (Lyles) dodges smoke. I don’t have time for that.”
Lyles continued: ‘If [Tyreek is] “If you’re really serious about it — I’m not talking about just talking on the Internet and not coming to me and talking to my agent and saying let’s do something — if you’re really serious about it, you’ll see me on the court.”
Less than 24 hours after Lyles’ comments, Hill shared on X: “Sign the contract and record that 50-yard race….”
Noah Lyles didn’t mince his words when talking about the possibility of racing Tyreek Hill on Saturday.
Hill – one of the fastest players in the NFL – is said to have finished last in the 100m and 200m in Paris
The Dolphins wideout happily accepted the American track star’s challenge to race against him in his response, Sunday
Lyles isn’t shy about voicing his opinions on other sports and their athletes. Last year, he famously said that the NBA Finals champion shouldn’t be considered the “world champion.”
Regardless of his issue with Hill, Lyles will have to be in top condition to beat Hill in the sprint, as the wideout’s personal best in the 100 meters is 10.19 seconds.
Hill’s best time in the 200 meters is 20.14 seconds.
Had he won both times in Paris, the 2019 Super Bowl champion would have finished last in the finals of each Olympic event.
Lyles’ best time in the 100m is the time he ran earlier in August to win gold in Paris – 9.79 seconds
Lyles’ personal best in the 100 meters is 9.79 seconds, which he used to win gold earlier this summer.
His best time of 19.31 in the 200 meters is the current American record.
This past weekend, Hill’s mother made headlines when she was accused of being violent toward a friend while driving in Florida, leading to a heated argument between the two.
