The original Tightrope series followed Mike Connors as Nick Stone, an undercover cop tasked with infiltrating organized crime.

The premise of the show was that Stone was “walking a tightrope between good and evil,” as none of the criminals and almost none of the cops knew he was undercover.

The show lasted only one season, spanning 37 episodes between early September 1959 and late May 1960.
