Just after midnight on Sunday morning, as crowds gathered around the historic market square, gunshots rang out.

Two men, aged 18 and 20, began shooting at each other near the stage at Conch Alley and police ran up and opened fire on the men.

Police were chasing the teen when one of his shots hit the 20-year-old, knocking him to the ground.

According to police, the officer then opened fire on the teen.

The 18-year-old died at the scene, while the other gunman died later that day at a local hospital.

Four female bystanders were injured in the shooting.

A 36-year-old and a 29-year-old woman were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while two other young women were checked and released at the scene.
