Bystanders pulled two men and a boy from a supposedly stolen car that caught fire after crashing into a tree in western Sydney.

Police were called to an intersection in Cranebrook on Thursday evening after reports that a car had crashed and was on fire.

Two men and a 12-year-old boy were rescued from the burning wreckage.

The boy was taken to Nepean Hospital with a broken leg and hip injury.

One of the men is said to have fled on foot before emergency services arrived.

Police were told that two men then arrived at the scene and placed the third occupant from the vehicle into a shopping cart before leaving the scene.

Police claim the burnt-out car that crashed was said to have been stolen from a nearby house in Cranebrook the day before

Paramedics were called to a nearby home in Rosannah Way, Cranebrook a short time later, where a man was heard screaming in pain.

Paramedics contacted police for help upon arrival after they were denied entry to the home.

Public Order Riot Squad agents eventually forced their way into the residence out of concern for the injured man’s well-being.

Police allege two men, aged 40 and 55, obstructed officers and forced them to use paprika spray.

A Taser was also used on an aggressive dog, which was not injured.

An injured man was found in the home with a broken leg and head injuries.

He was taken to Westmead Hospital, where he has since undergone mandatory tests.
