Two former female college hockey stars -Sidney Capolino and Meghan Moore – are shot dead inside their Florida apartment by a boyfriend before he turned the gun on himself

Two former female hockey stars were shot dead in their Florida apartment by a friend, who then turned the gun on himself.

Miami-Dade police suspect Luis Napoles, 40, shot his girlfriend Meghan Moore, 25, outside her home before entering and shooting her roommate Sidney Capolino, 23, on Saturday evening.

Officers responded to the massacre at Windsor Ludlam Trail Apartments, Coral Terrace, around 9 p.m. and found Meghan outside the apartment with a gunshot wound.

While attempting to treat her for her injuries, officers heard the sound of another gunshot from inside the condominium.

The complex was evacuated and the MDPD SWAT team entered. They discovered Sidney inside with a gunshot wound, and Napoles “suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.”

All three were pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary information leads detectives to believe they all lived in the apartment together.

Police said Napoles was dating Meghan and that Sidney was her roommate.

Both girls were star players on the New England College women’s ice hockey team.

Meghan was originally from Centerville, Massachusetts, and Sidney from Pawling, New York, according to their student-athlete biographies.

The president of New England College, Dr. Wayne F. Lesperance, Jr., issued a statement Monday confirming their deaths.

“Meghan and Sidney were known to many on campus, and we are deeply saddened by this devastating news,” he wrote.

“We are keeping Sidney and Meghan’s families and friends in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”

New England College said Sidney will graduate in 2022 and Meghan in 2021.

“As the campus community pauses to process the gravity of the event, it is important that we support and care for each other,” they said, offering counseling services.

A hockey coach associated with the university posted a heartbreaking tribute to the graduates on social media.

‘Both wonderful girls who were taken from us far too soon. Meg and Sid, you will both be deeply missed,” she wrote. ‘Rest in peace dear girls.’
