Two Delta Airlines planes have collided on the runway of the country’s busiest airport.
The incident occurred around 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Georgia.
The crash occurred after Tokyo-bound flight DL295 struck the rear of Louisiana-bound flight DL5526 while it was taxiing for departure.
The regional jet, an Endeavor Air CRJ-900, was torn off at its tail and the Airbus 350 sustained damage to its wing.
So far, there have been no injuries among the 277 passengers on both planes.
Two Delta Airlines planes have reportedly collided on a runway at a Georgia airport
The incident occurred on Tuesday at Atlanta Airport and saw one of the planes reportedly ‘hit’ the other while taxiing for departure
Jason Adams, a meteorologist with WTFS TV in Tampa, said he was aboard the regional jet at the time of the impact.
“Well, that was quite a shock,” he wrote on X. “We were taxiing for the flight from Atlanta to Louisiana and it turned out that another plane had hit the back of our plane.
“Very jarring, metal scraping sounds and then loud bangs. We’re okay. No fire or smoke. Wait for instructions.”
Delta reported that the Airbus rammed the LaFayette-bound plane while it was on an adjacent runway, “damaging the tail of the regional jet and the wing of the A350.”
“There are no injuries reported at this time and passengers are being transported back to the terminal where they will be accommodated on alternate flights,” Delta said in a statement.

Delta is cooperating with the NTSB and other authorities in this incident.
Atlanta Airport confirmed the impact on operations will be “minimal.”
“This morning at approximately 10:07 am, two aircraft collided at the intersection of taxiways E and H at the northern airport,” a statement said.
‘There are no reported injuries at this time. Passengers from one of the planes are being bused from the incident to the concourses.

‘The second aircraft taxied under its own power to a concourse where passengers disembark at their gate. The impact on airport operations is minimal.’
