Two people are dead and at least nine hospitalized after a horrific 35-vehicle crash on California's SB Interstate 5.

Bakersfield officials said 17 vehicles and 18 big rigs were involved in the crash, with fog believed to be the main cause of the tragedy.

Shocking images showed a fleet of vehicles crumbled in the crashes. CHP Buttonwillow PIO Manny Garcia said this is expected to cause significant disruptions and keep much of the highway closed for at least a day.

This is a developing story and will be updated as information is confirmed.
