Two children are dead after being found floating in Perth’s Swan River near New Year’s Eve revellers
Two young children have died after being found floating in Perth's Swan River on New Year's Eve.
The boy and girl, both under the age of 10, were spotted in Burswood, near Perth Stadium, at around 5.25pm on Sunday.
They were pulled from the water by members of the public but were found unresponsive when police arrived on the scene, WA Police said.
Both children received CPR, but could not be revived.
Eight ambulances arrived on the scene and the police cordoned off the area.
The incident happened near where partygoers had gathered for New Year's Eve celebrations and near a children's playground.
The children were taken to Perth Children's Hospital in a critical condition.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
