Two British citizens have been found dead in a burnt-out car in Sweden, with police now investigating the case as a double murder.
The bodies were recovered after firefighters were called to the scene of a fire on a dirt road in the Fosie industrial area of the coastal city of Malmö on Sunday.
It is believed the victims rented a car at Copenhagen Kastrup Airport before being found in the nearby Swedish town across the border.
According to local media, they were probably shot before the car was set on fire.
The identities of the deceased have not yet been released, but police officials consultation they ‘have no idea who they are’.
As they begin their manhunt and arrest several people for questioning, authorities fear more violence will follow, local media report, not ruling out a link to gang violence.

Rickard Lundqvist, spokesman for the southern police region, confirmed the investigation on Sunday, but said there is currently no suspect.
Police could only determine that the victims were not Danes, ‘because the car was registered in Denmark’.
According to the Swedish gossip magazine Aftonbladet, the victims were British.
Police confirmed that they are now working with foreign agents on the case.
They are now asking for tips about the burnt-out car so they can find out what happened.
‘We would like to talk to people who have seen the car.
“It concerns a black Toyota, model RAV4, registered in Denmark,” said Kerstin Gossé, spokesperson for the Swedish police.
They are now asking anyone who saw the car between 11:30am and 2pm on Sunday, July 14, to get in touch.
“We are working hard with various measures in this investigation to provide clarity on this,” she said.
The car has already been seized and several people will be questioned soon, it was confirmed.
“We cannot go into details about the people involved or the circumstances in general,” said Rickard Lundqvist.
According to local media, the crime scene is still cordoned off and a crime scene investigation is underway.
The victims were last seen on Sunday afternoon as they drove past the Öresund Bridge toll plaza.
According to reports, police now fear that more violent incidents will occur. Aftonbladet.
But Gossé said she had not heard anything about that internally.
Police would not say whether the attack was related to gang violence.
“We have to keep everything open. I can’t speculate about this at the beginning of the investigation,” Gossé said.
“So far we are being strict and restrained so that the preliminary investigation can proceed,” she added.
