Two American soldiers are killed and twelve are injured after a transport vehicle rolls over on the dirt road leading to the Yukon Training Area

Two U.S. soldiers have been killed and 12 injured after a transport vehicle drove down a dirt road on its way to the Yukon training area.
The vehicle, a Light Medium Tactical Vehicle (LMTV), was carrying 17 soldiers when the driver lost control on the outskirts of Salcha, Alaska, around 11 a.m. Monday.
“First responders arrived on scene and extracted personnel and provided medical treatment at the scene until the Soldiers could be medically evacuated by ground and air to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital,” an Army statement said.
The identities of the soldiers involved have not yet been released.
The troops of the 11th Airborne Division were headed to the Army’s 257,000-acre Yukon Training Area, east of Eielson Air Force Base and about 30 miles from Fort Wainwright.
US Army Alaska spokesman John Pennell told the Deccan Herald: “The entire 11th Airborne Division is now in mourning for these two soldiers, these two young men that we have lost.”
“We are doing everything we can to ensure their families are cared for and are working with the injured to get them back on their feet.”
