Twitter users who subscribe to blue ticks FINALLY start getting paid for their posts

Verified Twitter users are finally getting paid for their posts online – with one popular profile claiming to have pulled in more than $100,000 (£76,275).

Elon Musk’s platform will now “help people make a living directly on Twitter,” as it announced plans last night to kickstart monetization features.

This scheme is only available to notable Twitter Blue subscribers, as creators must prove they have received at least five million impressions on posts in the past three months.

Impressions are the total number of times a tweet has been viewed, and funds to support those who meet the bill will come from Twitter’s ad revenue.

“We are expanding our creator monetization offerings to include ad revenue sharing for creators,” Twitter wrote last night.

This means that creators can get a share of the ad revenue, starting with the comments on their posts. This is part of our effort to help people make a living directly on Twitter.

“We’re rolling out the program more widely later this month and all eligible creators can apply.”

While the payout schedule will be rolled out “more broadly” later this month, some influencers have already received news about the funds they will receive.

Cartoonist Shibetoshi Nakamoto shared a post claiming he had earned $37,050 (£28,259), which would be transferred to his account within 72 hours.

Others, like author Ashley St. Clair and podcaster Benny Johnson, appeared to have earned $7,153 (£5,455) and $9,546 (£7,281) respectively.

Another person who described himself as a “self-taught brain surgeon” even claimed to have made $107,247 (£81,802) in his account with just over 17,000 followers.

At this point, it’s unclear exactly how the payouts are calculated, but MailOnline has reached out to Twitter for more information.

The new Twitter payout schedule comes less than a week after Mark Zuckerberg released his rival blogging app, “Threads.”

The launch of Meta only heightened tensions between the two tech titans, and Musk now accuses Zuckerberg of using his own trade secrets.

It’s likely Musk’s timing of the ad revenue plan is an attempt to preserve his user base after more than 100 million people flocked to Threads this weekend — including Twitter’s own employees.

Yesterday, Musk wrote, “The payout of revenue to content creators will be cumulative from when I first promised in February.”
