Former Twitter employees in the UK are taking legal action against the company, claiming they were unlawfully fired amid massive job cuts following the Elon Musk takeover.

London law firm Winckworth Sherwood has accused Twitter of “unlawful, unfair and wholly unacceptable treatment” in a “false dismissal trial”.

Tesla boss Musk laid off half of Twitter’s 7,500 employees just days after completing his £38 billion takeover in October.

The City firm is acting on behalf of 43 of the more than 180 UK staff made redundant.

In the letter seen by the Daily Mail, Winckworth said: “We believe that Twitter has acted, and continues to act, in blatant disregard for its obligations to our customers under English law throughout the dismissal process to date.”

It’s unclear how many staff are still employed by Twitter in the UK, but figures from LinkedIn suggest that could be as few as 362 employees.
