Twitch star Dr Disrespect returns to streaming after admitting to ‘inappropriate conversations’ with a minor

A popular Twitch streamer who was banned from the platform after admitting to having ā€œinappropriate conversationsā€ with a minor is now back on YouTube.

Herschel ‘Guy’ Beahm IV, better known as Dr Disrespect or The Doc, was accused of inappropriate contact with a minor by a former Twitch employee in 2017, leading to a ban in 2020.

In a lengthy statement, the discredited streamer said that while he had “no real intentions,” he did exchange “inappropriate” messages with a minor.

‘Were there any Twitch Whisper messages with an individual minor in 2017? The answer is yes. Was there any real intent behind these messages, the answer is absolutely not.

“They were casual, mutual conversations that sometimes veered too far into inappropriateness, but nothing more. Nothing illegal happened, no photos were shared, no crimes were committed, I never met the person in question.

“I went through a lengthy arbitration process regarding a civil dispute with Twitch and that matter was resolved by settlement. Let me be clear, this was not a criminal case against me and no criminal charges were ever filed against me.

“Now, from a moral standpoint, I will absolutely take responsibility. I should never have had these conversations. That’s my fault. That’s my fault as an adult, a husband, a father. It should never have happened. I get it. I’m not perfect and I will own my shit. This was stupid,” he wrote on June 25.

But less than three months later, Beahm is back on YouTube, despite his channel being demonetized.

During his first broadcast, which was watched by 230,000 people at the start (but quickly dropped to 160,000 or less), he retracted his earlier statement and instead revealed a different story regarding the allegations.

Beahm told his viewers that “he had a Twitch affiliate manager with a ‘grudge’ who collected those Twitch messages and sent them to Twitch Trust and Safety, Twitch’s legal department, and others within the company with ‘screenshots taken out of context,’ which ultimately led to his ban,” according to Forbes.

Ultimately, Twitch Trust and Safety concluded that the messages did not constitute sexting or violate federal child exploitation laws.

The streamer also claimed during the session that he had not exchanged any explicit sexual messages or images with the minor.

At no point did Beahm apologize or assure his viewers that he would be aware of his future actions.

Twitch has yet to comment on Beahm’s latest claims, and it’s unclear whether he will be banned from YouTube in the near future.
