Renowned pet fashion designer Anthony Rubio proved that anything is legible, including transforming a dozen rescue animals into dead rings for some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, including Rihanna and Salma Hayek.
On Monday, the fashion designer, who is known for creating one-of-a-kind creations for pets, hosted the first annual Pet Gala, attended by 11 rescue dogs and a cat, which replicated some of the highlights on this year’s red carpet.
Like those who attended the 2023 Met Gala earlier this month, the furry attendees kept to the exhibit theme, Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, as they gathered in the Penthouse on West 46th Street.
For the special occasion, Livie, a Morkie, replicated Hayek’s fiery red Gucci ball gown, which featured a shimmery bustier and sheer lace underlay, with off-the-shoulder pearl straps.
The cute pup, who has 156,000 followers, also sported a matching bow, reminiscent of the 56-year-old House of Gucci actress’s sleek ponytail with three large red rosettes.
Meanwhile, Miley-Jo, a Chorkie with 90,700 Instagram followers, stole the show dressed as nine-time Grammy winner Rihanna, in a white ball gown, with huge flowers on it and a hood.
To make sure the small but mighty dog looked just like the founder of Fenty Beauty, 35, Rubio even designed a pair of sunglasses adorned with false eyelashes on them for the pet influencer to wear.

Darla, an eight-year-old Pomeranian, was styled as the one and only Cardi B.
And the treasured pooch was clearly embracing life as Bodak Yellow’s hitmaker as he rocked a custom tuxedo dress covered in huge black roses.
Other notable dog models included Darla’s sister, Lala, dressed as Dua Lipa, who served as a co-host at the 2023 Met Gala.
Bling, a Pomeranian, wore a Pedro Pascal-inspired look consisting of a floor-length red coat.
Bagel the Sunglasses Cat made quite a statement dressing up as Doja Cat, while Bogie, a chihuahua, was blown up as rapper Bad Bunny.
According to Rubio, the most challenging piece of clothing to recreate was Jared Leto’s cat.
“This took two weeks,” he told the New York Post of the design, worn by Kimba.
The publication also revealed that the designer is already planning “next year’s Pet Gala, which he hopes will include a sit-down dinner in the museum proper, with sponsors and tickets that will raise money for animal shelters and charities.’

“Everything I do, I do for the love of animals,” he said.
Rubio recently appeared on Access Hollywood to show off the designs ahead of the invite-only event that will be attended by pets from all over the United States.
The acclaimed Pet Couturier regularly posts his work on his social media pages, including his Instagram, which has more than 15,100 followers.

The New York native has been designing clothing for animals since he rescued a chihuahua in 2005.
In 2012, he was the first dog designer to exhibit his work at New York Fashion Week.
That same year, he launched an “Adopt Me Maybe” campaign, inspired by Carly Rae Jepsen’s hit song Call Me Maybe, which went viral.

His book, Canine Couture, featuring photography by Tammy Swarek, Robin Hagy, David Ayllon, Simply Robb, Mouhsine Idrissi Janati, and Yoni Levy, is available for preorder for $40.
