TV veteran Derryn Hinch, 80, reveals details of his horror Christmas injury which left him with two black eyes
Derryn Hinch revealed he was in a horrific accident just before Christmas as he shared photos of his painful injuries on Boxing Day.
The media personality, 80, took to Facebook to share a photo of himself and his partner Lynda Stoner on Christmas Day, as he gave insight into their celebrations.
However, Derryn was pictured with huge bruises on his face and he shared in a caption how he ended up with two black eyes after a fall.
The accident happened just days before Christmas, but he waited until Boxing Day to reveal the extent of his injuries as he did not want to share ‘bad news’ over the festive period.
Alongside the photo of himself and Lynda, he wrote: ‘I didn’t post this photo earlier because I didn’t want to give bad news at Christmas.
‘I had a fall before Christmas which hit me on the nose and as a result blackened both eyes.

Despite his painful injuries, Derryn appeared to be in good spirits on Christmas Day and flashed a big smile during lunch with Lynda.
Derryn and Lynda were first engaged in 1981, but sadly went their separate ways.
However, they rekindled their romance 35 years later in 2016 and have remained strong ever since.
His shocking fall comes just weeks after Australia’s former senator was hospitalized with a heart problem.
He suffered from atrial fibrillation, also called an irregular heartbeat, and underwent electroshock therapy to reset his heart rhythm.
After Derryn was diagnosed a month ago, he was treated at a Melbourne hospital and released the same day.
“I noticed I was getting short of breath and I thought ‘this isn’t normal’ so I went to my doctor and had an ECG (electrocardiogram),” he told the Herald Sun.

Derryn also recently underwent five weeks of daily radiotherapy amid a ‘quite serious’ battle with skin cancer after doctors found a melanoma on his forehead (pictured)
“My cardiologist admitted me to hospital and on Thursday they gave me an electric shock to my heart, which was quite scary, but it worked,” he continued.
‘It has gotten my heart back into a normal rhythm and I will see how it improves my breathing in the coming weeks.’

A melanoma just below his hairline was first discovered by doctors in February and he had it removed, but doctors were unable to remove the entire area.
He then visited the Peter MacCallum Cancer Center to undergo another operation to remove the melanoma and is now undergoing radiotherapy as ‘insurance’.
‘It’s not good. “I’ve had two operations on my face and they still need radiation,” he told the newspaper Herald Sun.
‘The only good news is that they looked at a spot where I had surgery about eight years ago, on the other side (of his forehead) and it’s clear.
“I tick off each day and once that day is over, it’s over. It’s quite serious, but as someone once said, that’s life.’
