A popular vet has revealed why the Corgi was a perfectly suited dog breed for Queen Elizabeth II – and predicts that the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel will be the next popular breed.
dr. Katrina Warren, former co-host of Harry’s Practice, said the Queen’s love of the outdoors would have kept her “active” Corgis sufficiently stimulated.

The former co-host of Harry’s Practice said the Queen’s love of the outdoors would have kept her “active” corgis sufficiently stimulated.
“Even though they have this short coat and it’s easy to care for, they lose a lot… Look, I’m a walking carpet now,” she told the hosts as she petted a Corgi that accompanied her on the Today couch show. .
Throughout her 70-year reign, a constant in the Queen’s life has been her love for her Corgis, so much so that the pets have become a symbol of British royalty around the world.
dr. Katrina said there are two types of Corgis, the Pembroke and Cardigan who descend from two different breeds, the Spitz and the Jacksons, respectively.
While their friendly temperament makes them a great family pet, Dr. Katrina that Corgis are very active dogs that need a lot of training and exercise.

“Well, I hear in the dog world that no one can say King Charles without adding ‘spaniel’ to the end of it. They were named many moons ago after King Charles II, where they used to sit in carriages and keep people’s laps warm,” she explained.
