Earlier this year, Stephen was left unable to present after reportedly undergoing a hospital procedure which could see him off television ‘for weeks’.

The presenter told fans he’d be absent from this weekend’s Saturday Night Takeaway after being told to take time out on ‘doctor’s orders’, leaving his fans concerned.

However, a source told The Sun the broadcaster is ‘focusing all his energy on his recovery’ as he supports Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, both 46, from home.

A source told The Sun at the time: ‘Stephen went to hospital for a medical procedure, but has been discharged now and is focusing all his energy on his recovery.’

It comes after it was revealed that Deal or no Deal is being lined up to return with Stephen set to replace former host Noel Edmonds to front an ITV reboot.

Sources have claimed there were suggestions Noel could return but in the end ITV are keen to give the show ‘a completely fresh look and feel.’

Insiders told the sun of Deal Or No Deal: ‘ITV think there is still a huge appetite for it and think they could make a huge success of the show if they brought it back.

‘Plans for the reboot are in the very early stages and the details of when it could come back are being closely guarded.

‘Stephen has been approached about being the new host of the show which is something he is over-the-moon about.’
