TV Commentator Gets Roasted For Referencing Aretha Franklin’s Song Respect In Tribute Post To Tina Turner: ‘Love Her So Much You Don’t Even Know Who She Is’
Controversial Australian social commentator Prue MacSween has been called out for referencing Aretha Franklin’s song Respect in a tribute to Tina Turner.
Following news of her death on Wednesday, MacSween, 71, thanked Turner for “bringing such joy” on Twitter before closing the post with “RESPECT”
Fans roasted the radio star for ‘swapping’ the two performers, but MacSween told Daily Mail Australia the post was ‘not an accident’.
“I knew it was Aretha’s hymn, but I did it on purpose. I have so much respect for how Tina overcame all the hardships in her life and she is one of the top two rock and soul singers of the 1960s along with Aretha,” she said.
‘How sad that showing respect at death becomes fodder for idiots. It’s kind of amusing to see fairly petty trolls coming out of the woodwork, but disrespectful in this case.’
