I nearly died three times from botched boob jobs – but that didn’t stop me going to Turkey for a tummy tuck operation
A mum who suffered three bouts of sepsis thanks to a trio of botched breast jobs left her family horrified when she went under the knife again – this time to ditch her baby lab.
Louisa Anderson-Roy was ‘petrified’ of having another plastic surgery after almost losing her life following three failed breast enlargements.
The 42-year-old mother of six first went under the knife 20 years ago when she was offered a free boob job in Istanbul, Turkey, but soon developed a small hole in her nipple, which developed into sepsis.
Louisa said she suffered for years with a nipple that looked as if a ‘big chunk’ had been taken out of it, so she decided to undergo correction surgery in London.
However, shortly after the operation, Louisa developed sepsis again, claiming she had been given PIP implants inserted ‘upside down and backwards’.
PIP breast implants were withdrawn from Britain in 2010 after it was found that they had been fraudulently manufactured using unapproved silicone gel and were much more prone to rupture than other breast implants.
The salon owner, who lives in Brighton, West Sussex, had the PIP implants removed and replaced by a private surgeon five years later, but was left fighting for her life again when she developed sepsis for a third time.
After her implants were removed, Louisa vowed never to allow herself to have plastic surgery again.

But after the birth of her sixth baby, the mother felt desperately insecure about her weight and began researching tummy tucks in Turkey, to the horror of her concerned family.
Louisa had the surgery in August and now feels more confident than ever with her new and improved waistline.
Louisa said: ‘I was toying with stomach surgery but couldn’t afford to do it here.
‘I thought I was going to have stomach surgery, but because of what happened with the breast implants, everyone was in an uproar saying, ‘You can’t do this.’
“They said it’s too risky with your history. But I was literally miserable about my weight and had to do something. Everyone was against it.
‘I’m not unhappy because I’m a bigger person, I just hated this huge stomach, so my friend helped put me in touch with a surgeon in Turkey.
‘Of course I was very nervous, but not about the whole Turkey thing because I had terrible experiences in Britain too. I was terrified to go back there.”

‘I was always a big person, but after that operation I felt motivated to lose weight’
And over the next few months, the mother felt inspired to lose even more weight, going from a size 20 to a size 12 after the surgery.
Louisa said: ‘It went incredibly. It was the only place where I never had an infection. Since then I have lost four stone, and without bariatric surgery.

‘I spent all that money and risked my life again, I took it very seriously and don’t want to ruin the hard work. I am so happy with the results. It’s really life-changing.’
Louisa was nervous about having plastic surgery again after facing complications following her first breast augmentation at the age of 21, which saw her lose a ‘quarter of her nipple’.
Louisa said: ‘When I was 21, I was offered a free breast enlargement in Istanbul. My manager at the time had set up a company that brought people to Turkey, and that wasn’t that important at the time.
‘So I went there, got the implants and ten days later I got a little hole in my nipple.
‘Day after day it got bigger and bigger and sepsis broke out. I lost a quarter of my nipple. It was all eaten away by the infection. It was terrible.

‘There are also many failed operations in Britain. Of course, you also have to be careful when you go to Turkey,” she warned
Now the mother wants to raise awareness of the risks associated with surgery at home and abroad
“I spent three or four years with a nipple that looked like a big chunk had been taken out of it.”
Louisa thought she was in safe hands when she underwent correction surgery in the UK, but developed sepsis again during her second boob operation, which cost £15,000.
After these implants ruptured, Louisa spent a further £12,000 at a private clinic in Britain, but almost died when an infection broke out.
Louisa said: ‘An infection broke out again and I almost died. I was pouring pus. There were buckets and buckets filled with hot, warm pus that had gone all over my body.
‘Within ten days I went into septic shock [of the surgery] and rushed to hospital where the implants had to be removed by the NHS.
‘This was the third time I had sepsis and I was really fighting for my life. It was so bad. My temperature rose enormously, I was so sick.’
Despite concerns from her family, Louisa chose to go under the knife again after struggling with her baby weight earlier this year and gaining five stone due to a traumatic pregnancy.
Now the mother wants to raise awareness of the risks associated with surgery at home and abroad.
Louisa said: ‘It is important to raise awareness of the dangers of operations abroad, but I was also very shocked by my experience of operations here in Britain.
