Tucker Carlson leaves Fox News five days after the network paid $787 million to settle the Dominion lawsuit
Tucker Carlson has left Fox News after ruling the network for nearly a decade.
Carlson’s last show was on April 21, according to a network statement released today.
His departure comes days after Fox settled with Dominion Voting Systems, which filed a defamation lawsuit alleging that hosts like Carlson knew President Trump’s claims of election fraud were untrue but pushed them for ratings.
Carlson’s show, Tucker Carlson Tonight, was the shining jewel of Fox’s nightly lineup.
It is unclear how long his contract will run and whether Fox will pay severance pay.
A 2020 report by CNN’s Brian Stelter listed his salary as $10 million a year.
His show – averaging 3.5 million viewers – was the most watched on cable.
But a string of recent controversies, including the Dominion claims and Carlson’s own comments about the January 6 riots, left him in hotter water than he was used to.

Carlson has not yet commented on his departure. Tucker Carlson launched tonight in 2016.
Dominion sued for $1.6 billion and settled for $700 million at the 11th hour.
In a statement today, the network said, “FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. We thank him for his services to the network as a host and, therefore, as a contributor.
‘Mr. Carlson’s last program was Friday, April 21.
“Fox News Tonight airs live at 8 p.m. / ET and begins tonight as an in-between show led by rotating FOX News personalities until a new host is named.”
