Tua Tagovailoa is STILL in concussion protocol a MONTH after suffering his latest head injury as he continues to meet with specialists after a series of brutal blows: Miami Dolphins star QB will miss Pro Bowl
Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is still in concussion protocol a month after his latest head injury and will miss Pro Bowl games next week.
The 24-year-old entered the protocol for the second time this season on Dec. 26 after suffering a concussion during the Dolphins’ loss to the Green Bay Packers on Christmas Day.
He missed the last three games of the regular season, as well as Miami’s wild card playoff loss to the Buffalo Bills, but now he will miss another.

The 24-year-old entered the protocol for the second time this season on December 26
Tagovailoa remains on the protocol as the team has purposely extended his time on it to allow him to meet with various doctors and specialists, according to ESPN.
Tagovailoa is believed to have suffered no setbacks in his recovery, but the Dolphins aren’t rushing him and prioritizing his health.
But because he remains in the protocol, Tagovailoa will now sit out next week’s Pro Bowl.
The third-year quarterback will now sit out next week’s Pro Bowl games.
He named as the first backup and would have replaced Joe Burrow or Patrick Mahomes with the Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs playing in the AFC Champions League game this week and one of the quarterbacks heading to the Super Bowl.
Tagovailoa set career highs in his third season for passing yards and touchdowns and also led the league in passer rating.
It came as a surprise to fans that the third-year quarterback only made it as a backup after he topped fan voting as the only player to receive more than 300,000 votes.
Many have raised concerns about Tagovailoa’s future in the league following suspicions of three concussions this season with analyst Stephen A Smith stating his NFL career is in jeopardy.
Tagovailoa has been in concussion protocol for a month after a loss to the Packers
Tagovailoa previously suffered a concussion in a Week 4 loss to Cincinnati on a play that knocked him out and caused him to be stretchered off the field.
That was four days after he was allowed to return to a game against Buffalo after appearing disoriented after a hit.
Then, in December, Tagovailoa’s head smashed into the turf at Hard Rock Stadium in the second quarter of the Week 16 game, but he was not examined or removed from the game, prompting an investigation into the situation.
The NFL and players union have cleared the team of any wrongdoing over Tagovailoa’s latest concussion diagnosis.
He suffered a concussion against the Bengals after a tackle knocked him out in week 4.
Tagovailoa’s first concussion scare came in the second quarter against the Bills in September.
However, medical experts are said to be confident that the quarterback can resume his NFL career next season and is expected to return as the starting quarterback for the Miami Dolphins in the 2023 season, despite his concussion problems.
“Tua Tagovailoa is our starting quarterback,” general manager Chris Grier said. “Talking to the doctors, we expect him to come back to 100 percent next year.”
His parents also insisted that the starting quarterback return for the upcoming season.
“He’ll be back,” Galu Tagovailoa, Tua’s mother, told KHON 2 at the Polynesian Bowl in Hawaii.
‘That’s your type. They love him, we love them and what they’re doing and how they’re helping him with his recovery and everything else trying to get him back.”
The Dolphins have a May 1 deadline to exercise the fifth-year option on Tagovailoa’s rookie contract.
