Tua Tagovailoa debuted a new hairstyle on Wednesday, but the Miami Dolphins quarterback isn’t convinced he looks like Drake now.

Tagovailoa shocked reporters when he walked into a news conference with his hair braided in cornrows ahead of Miami’s showdown with the Las Vegas Raiders this weekend.

“My hair was scandalous, so I thought if I didn’t braid it or if it wasn’t long enough, I would just cut it,” he said. “So I thought I’d just get it braided.”

When asked if he took any inspiration from NBA legend Allen Iverson, Tagovailoa continued, “No AI, no AI inspiration. But dude is a baller. Gained a lot of respect for him.

“It was just one of those things where my hair was just wild, and I wanted to see what I could do with it.” If I couldn’t do anything, I’d cut it off.’

On comparisons to Drake, he added, “But Drake, I don’t know if I look like Drake. Drake?’

After a reporter then asked the QB if he could rap, Tagovailoa briefly sang “Kiki” to mimic one of the rapper’s hit songs, before busting out a dance.

He then went on to say that his girlfriend is a fan of the new hairstyle – which may have been the most important factor.

In addition to his music, Drake has turned heads this year by trying out new hairstyles, the most notable of which are braids or barrettes.

The Canadian rap phenomenon also surprised fans earlier today after releasing the video for his hit song “First Person Shooter” featuring fellow rap star J Cole.

Drake and Cole also recently announced the dates for their upcoming “It’s All a Blur Tour,” with tickets going on sale this Friday. The tour starts in January.
