Trump’s press secretary slams CNN for cutting her off mid-interview for attacking colleagues Jake Tapper and Dana Bash… and how worrying it is for Donald for the upcoming debate

Trump spokesperson Karoline Leavitt blasted CNN for cutting her off mid-interview Monday morning, but said Donald Trump would still participate in Thursday night’s debate despite the incident.

Leavitt was on CNN to talk about the first presidential debate hosted by the network. In her interview, she argued that moderators Jake Tapper and Dana Bash are “biased” when it comes to Trump.

CNN anchor Kasie Hunt, who conducted the interview, objected and interrupted Leavitt, causing her to be taken off the air.

Leavitt said the incident “just proves our point that President Trump will not be treated fairly in Thursday’s debate.”

“CNN cutting off my microphone because I brought up a debate moderator’s history of anti-Trump lies only proves our point that President Trump will not be treated fairly in Thursday’s debate. Yet President Trump is still willing to take this 3-1 fight to deliver his winning message to the American people, and he will win,” she said.

Meanwhile, Hunt tweeted about the incident and said her colleagues should be “respected.”

“You come to my show, you respect my colleagues. Period of time. I don’t care which side of the aisle you are on, as my record clearly shows,” she wrote on X.

And CNN stands by its moderators.

“Jake Tapper and Dana Bash are highly respected veteran journalists who have collectively covered politics for more than five decades. They have extensive experience moderating major political debates, including CNN’s Republican Presidential Primary Debate this cycle. “There are no two people better equipped to moderate a substantive and fact-based discussion and we look forward to the June 27 debate in Atlanta,” a CNN spokesperson told DailyMail.com.

Leavitt was on the cable news network as part of the lead-up to the first presidential debate.

She accused Biden of “hiding” as Trump prepared to “enter a hostile environment on this network with debate moderators who have made their opinions of him very public over the last eight years.”

She also said Tapper and Bash are “biased,” prompting Hunt to intervene and insist they were “professional.”

“Ma’am, we will stop here if you continue to attack my colleagues,” Hunt warned. “I’d like to talk about Joe Biden and Donald Trump, who you work for.”

But as Leavitt tried to get her point across, Hunt interrupted and the two talked over each other for several seconds before Hunt promptly ended the interview.

‘I’m sorry guys… Karoline, thank you very much for your time. You can always come back,” Hunt suddenly stated.

The Trump campaign is downplaying expectations for the former president ahead of Thursday’s debate.

At a rally in Wisconsin last week, Trump argued that he would debate not only Biden, but also CNN’s two debate moderators — Jake Tapper and Dana Bash — whom he says he doesn’t like.

“I’m going to debate with three people instead of half of one person,” he said.

The former president is at his golf club in Bedminster, N.J., preparing for Thursday’s event.

He also practices his lines of attack in public.

At a meeting in Philadelphia this weekend, he noted, “It is reported that Crooked Joe has gone to a cabin at this time to study and prepare. No, he didn’t. He’s sleeping now because they want to get him good and strong.”

Biden is holed up in Camp David, where he has been plotting his strategy with advisers since Friday. He’s focused on holding Trump accountable for his record and coming up with sharp one-liners to oust the former president.

He will take part in mock debates, where Bob Bauer, Biden’s personal lawyer, is expected to play Trump’s role.

Neither man has been on the debate stage in years.

Biden had no serious Democratic primary challenger and Trump refused to participate in the Republican Party primaries – which didn’t hurt him as he won the nomination.

On Thursday evening in Atlanta, Biden will have the first word and Trump will have the last word. The campaigns took part in a coin toss with host CNN last week to determine speaking order and podium position.

When one candidate is speaking, the other’s microphone is muted. No opening statements are expected and the candidates will be given two minutes to answer questions.

There will be no audience in the hall.

The debate lasts 90 minutes with two commercial breaks. It starts at 9pm ET.

After the debate, the two candidates hit the road: Biden goes to North Carolina to campaign while Trump is in Virginia.
