Trump’s NIGHTMARE campaign schedule: January 6 trial date and the Georgia arraignment add to ex-president’s disaster diary during his 2024 run

Donald Trump faces a nightmare scenario next year as his court hearings collide with key primaries in his bid to become the Republican presidential nominee.

The blows are piling up on the former president, including one on Monday when a federal judge in Washington, D.C. set a March 5 trial date for his case alleging interference in the 2020 election results. That date is the day before Super Tuesday — a of the largest data on the primary schema.

And the former president will be in Georgia on September 6 to face charges that he attempted to overturn the 2020 election results in that state.

Further dates for the trial have not yet been set, but Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis said she would like Trump’s trial to begin in the next six months, meaning it is in the middle of the presidential primaries season could take place.

In total, Trump has six criminal and civil trials scheduled over the next nine months. The four criminal cases include 91 misdemeanor counts.

The trials are taking place in three states and the District of Columbia — often within days of each other and as voters head to the polls to decide on the Republican presidential nominee.

Additionally, one of Trump’s court hearings — for the original libel lawsuit against E. Jean Carroll — will take place on January 15, 2024, the exact same day as the Iowa caucuses.

Here are key dates to watch out for as Trump runs for president and tries to stay out of jail:

September 6, 2023: Arraignment in Georgia

Trump and his 18 co-defendants will face charges of an alleged criminal enterprise that sought to reverse his 2020 loss to Joe Biden in the state.

September 27, 2023: Second Republican primary debate

The 2024 Republican hopefuls are expected to meet on stage for the second debate of the primary. The meeting will be held at the Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California.

October 2, 2023: Trial date for Trump Organization civil fraud case

The $250 million civil lawsuit brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James is set for trial. In September, James sued Trump, his company and his oldest three children for fraud.

She said the ex-president “has exaggerated his wealth by billions of dollars” while manipulating real estate valuations to get tax breaks and better terms on loans and insurance policies.

January 15, 2024: The Iowa caucuses

The official start date of the 2024 election. The Iowa caucuses mark the official start of the Republican primary season. Voters across the state of Hawkeye gather at caucus locations and hear a pitch from each candidate or a surrogate for each candidate before casting their ballots.

Iowa has given candidates the momentum to ultimately win the party’s nomination — like Barack Obama’s in 2008 — or crushed candidates’ presidential dreams.

Trump lost the 2016 Iowa caucus to Senator Ted Cruz.

January 15, 2024: The libel trial against E. Jean Carroll begins

E. Jean Carroll’s original libel suit against Trump is going to trial — but luckily for the ex-president, since the Iowa caucuses are on the same day, the 2024 Republican hopeful doesn’t have to attend in person.

Carroll sued Trump for libel in November 2019 after publicly denying her claims that he was raped by him in New York City’s Bergdorf Goodman department store in 1996. Trump said Carroll was “completely lying” and “not my type.”

In a separate lawsuit that went to trial earlier this year, jurors found that Trump did not rape Carroll, but sexually assaulted her and awarded her $5 million in the lawsuit, something Trump defies.

January 23, 2024: The tentative date for the New Hampshire primary

Granite State will hold its first primary in the country a week after the Iowa caucuses. In 2016, New Hampshire gave Trump his first election night victory. In current polls, he is 40 points ahead of the second-place candidate, former New Jersey governor Chris Christie.

January 29, 2024: Trial in class action lawsuit over pyramid scheme

Another trial will start in January. This federal class action lawsuit was filed just before the 2018 midterm elections alleging that Trump and his three oldest children convinced consumers to invest in a get-rich-quick scheme. “The investments did not, and could not, offer a reasonable chance of success,” the lawsuit said.

February 8, 2024: Nevada caucuses

The third primary game of the year takes place in Nevada. Trump won the Nevada caucuses in 2016.

February 24, 2024: South Carolina primary

The fourth primary will be held in South Carolina, home of two of Trump’s Republican rivals.

February 27, 2024: Michigan primaries

The fifth primary will be held next year in Michigan, a state Trump won in the 2016 general election, winning the White House from Hillary Clinton.

Since then, the state has been on a blue trend, with a Democratic governor, Democrats controlling the state government, and President Joe Biden winning the state from Trump in the 2020 race.”

March 4, 2024: Sof the 2020 federal election and the January 6 trial

Special Counsel Jack Smith will begin his federal trial on Jan. 6 on charges related to Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election and his role.

March 5, 2024: Super Tuesday

Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont and Virginia will hold their Super Tuesday primaries next year.

March 25, 2024: Hush money case goes to court

About a year after the first indictment against Trump, based on New York State charges related to hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election, the case will come to trial.

If Republican voters rally around one Trump rival, the Republican primary could still go ahead.

During his last competitive cycle, Trump did not become the presumptive candidate for the Republican Party until May 3, 2016.

The classified documents case is set to go to trial in mid-May, despite Trump's attorneys pushing Trump-appointed federal judge Aileen M. Cannon to delay the case until after the 2024 presidential election.

May 20, 2024: The trial against classified documents is about to begin

Trump-appointed federal judge Aileen M. Cannon chose mid-May to begin the classified documents trial.

Special counsel Jack Smith’s team originally wanted the Florida case to go to trial in December 2023, while Trump’s lawyers asked for an extension until after the 2024 presidential election.

June 4, 2024: Final Republican primary

The final states will hold primaries in the race to determine the Republican presidential nominee.

July 15 to 18, 2024: Republican National Convention

Republicans will officially make their primary choice at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Democrats were scheduled to hold their 2020 convention in the Midwestern city, but instead held a scaled back version in Wilmington, Delaware due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
