Former President Trump’s “important announcement” was released Thursday, and it’s a digital trading card featuring a picture of himself in a superhero costume standing in a boxing ring.

Like a digital version of the Pokémon cards kids used to trade in the 1990s and 2000s, Trump’s card will set fans back $99.

They will be gone, I think, very soon! Trump wrote on Truth Social.

‘IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!’ he said. ‘My official Donald Trump digital trading card collection is here! These limited edition cards feature amazing ART from my life and career! Collect all your favorite digital Trump cards, much like baseball cards, but hopefully much more exciting.”

A link to the collectibles shows Trump in several different costumes, including a cowboy and an astronaut.

“AMERICA NEEDS A SUPERHERO!” Trump said along with a clip posted on Truth Social on Tuesday. Tomorrow I will make an IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT. Thank you!’

The clip was a cartoon of himself posing as Superman outside Trump Tower, one of three properties where his legal team had a contractor search for additional government material, as part of a Justice Department investigation into a treasure trove of classified documents discovered in Mar-a-Lago.

That investigation is one of multiple challenges facing Trump on the legal front. Despite a bevy of lawyers, a federal judge he appointed in Florida this week finally put an end to a special teacher Trump had demanded, after being struck down by an appeals court.

Last month, the 76-year-old former president announced that he would run again in 2024, and many had speculated that his “important announcement” could be related to his campaign.

Trump has yet to hold a campaign rally since announcing his candidacy, so the taunt sparked speculation that he could provide an update on his plans to connect with voters as Republicans weigh who they want to carry the party flag after he the Republican Party captured the House but lost a Senate seat.

Trump jumped to 2024 by announcing a race to retake the White House, just days after the November election, when some Republicans blamed the former president for endorsing candidates like Georgia’s Herschel Walker, who lost.

Now their numbers are beginning to drop against DeSantis, the governor of Florida.

A new Wall Street Journal poll of likely voters, conducted two years before Election Day 2024, shows DeSantis in the lead. Among likely primary voters, the poll found that 54 percent favored DeSantis, compared with 38 percent who backed Trump.

That lead grows to 30 points among more moderate Republicans, though they tend to be a more marginal force in the primary process.

DeSantis is also viewed more favorably, at 43 percent compared to Trump’s 36 percent.

Leading Republicans rallied against the former president’s third candidacy after the party’s lackluster performance in the midterm elections, and even Trump’s staunchest allies have refused to come to his support.

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell has included attacks on the former president in his last three weekly news conferences. House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy responded to the question on Wednesday.

“We haven’t talked about it yet,” he said at a news conference when asked if he planned to endorse Trump after Trump endorsed him as a speaker.
